11/120709 Lifeline book fair:
I admittedly and shamelessly display how Im NOT thatttt internet savvy but I wont let that stop me from sharing what I want to. The photos arent nearly as professional as I want them to look LOL nor do I know how to put up a website within a blog entry. I could probably google how tos but I really dont think its neccessary. If one day I've really got time to kill or I just happen to learn how to do it, there'll be improvements on future posts but for now Im blissfully ignorant and it shows.
The photos below are all the ones I took in excitement after visiting the Sutherland Lifeline book fair on Saturday AND Sunday.
Sunday as most people know is the half rate day.
But we couldnt take the chance to let go off books we really wanted so we bought those anyway on Saturday and decided to pay them a visit the next day as well. Great great bargains!
Considering that Sutherland Lifeline is a tad more expensive than the Macarthur one, I realised how much one can save just with a few dollars off each book.
For instance, Macarthur Lifeline had most books being sold for nothing more than AUD 2. Very rarely we came across a few above this amount. Sutherland Lifeline had it AUD 2 up up up...
My husband and me were sorely sorely disappointed that they hiked it up.
Either they were just catering to a class of people who could afford to pay more or they decided that based on previous sales they could afford to hike up prices moving forward. Not good!!!
That didnt stop us but as loyal supporters we mightttt re-consider future visits.
Anywho, we went, we enjoyed and we liked.
Plus on Sunday there was an Arts fair with many lovely stalls with food and drinks and a live band and kids and dogs and smiling happy peepolll :-) So that jazzed it up for us.
I dont remember how much we paid or the exact total number of books but one things certain, its much much more cheaper to buy off these books than going to the book stores. All that hype, 3 for the price of 2 and fancy coffee places...as much as ambience is for me, I can forsake it for a really good bargain. And as much as I realise and know the sales for a good cause, I still want to save a few bucks. My husband and me realised - better our payment end up in the pocket of a charity than a corporate sleazebag.
So all in all, good fun day, the long drive back and forth was thoroughly enjoyable.
Photos of books purchased ... and more:
I put this in to remember what a beautiful day it was and what a fun time we had...the best scenery pic I could manage considering my husband refused to stop the car for me to take photos. He probably knew Id get carried away with photography so somethings better than nothing so heres us heading back:
This photo reminds us how pre-loved books add more value sometimes. Sure, its great walking into a book store and buying a brand new book and owning it all yourself. But a good mixs great too. We like to own both. And sometimes you get library stuff inside and peoples personal stickies and notes, all sorts of stuff.
This is a book Im really looking forward to reading. The title is Nobel Prize Women in Science by Sharon McGrayne and the blurbs down here:
This chap owned my Napolean book in 1901 :-)....awesome!!!!
Tat ta d a d aaaa!!!
