DIY Grooming

Im sure every woman goes through the dreaded hair removal woes and there are so many choices out there. My personal journey and in turn choices are simple. DIY.

So Im the proud owner of
an epilator
a shaver
and hopefully soon, a precision hair remover.

With 3 products in your arsenal, you're really doing yourself a favour.

P.S. Im not advocating any brand or product or marketing here.

~~~
I had such a tough time trying to filter thru so many sites to find decent information on how to do threading myself.
Heres the best 3 sites that offer advice on step by step threading:
In order of preference:
1. http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-create-a-threading-instrument-to-remove-hair
2. http://www.hairlaserremoval.co.uk/hair-removal-threading-pictures.htm
3. http://www.indiaparenting.com/beauty/article.cgi?art_id=133
~~~

It just seems so difficult to try threading on myself so I went on a search to find something that I could use to shape my own eyebrows and the perseverance paid off. I finally went to 'the shaver shop' (where btw the staff arent very nice) and I found

*drumroll*

~~~Braun's FG 1100~~~
The best and all-in-one solution to threading + waxing.
All DIY!
No need to make appointments.
No need to dish out AUD 12 / threading visit (I dont know how much more it might be for waxing).
No need to wait, just use it anytime convenient for me.
Im so glad they came out with something like this. I already have an epilator and a pink lil shaver but I wondered if they had something to do the eyebrows.
With Braun, looks like all those sensitive places on the face can be addressed, the eyebrows for sure, the upperlip and the chin.
Its a precision hair remover with 2 heads, the smaller ones useful to me.
Its batt op and looks very feminine (looks matter, doesnt it)
Here is a site that helped most:
Its AUD 29 and over at the shop it was AUD 40:
http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Braun-Trimmer-FG1100-Silk-Finish-Lilac-303p2833.htm
(my husband also noticed that the shop's piece was a one year guarantee and the one on this site has a two year guarantee)
Product details:
SilkFinish precisely removes and trims any unwanted hair from eyebrows, bikini line, face or any other sensitive areas.
This pen-sized, battery operated precision hair remover is ideal for meticulious detailing all over, and comes in a sleek and stylish design for ultimate convenience.
NB: I cannot totally vouch for this yet because I havent bought it but its on my wishlist and as much as my husband pressed me to buy it, I put it off for later. But it sure looks like its the solution for a big headache for me , considering:
I dont want to start waxing the hair off my face
Im used to waxing
I dont want to pay anyone and want to have my own freedom when and especially HOW its done (esp the shape of my eyebrows, I hate it when the threading layd mucks it up)
I'll update this post once Ive bought the product.
Update 130709:
I can vouch for Nair precision hair removal cream. This is the closest to the best.
Heres what I feel are the advantages and disadvantages of this cream:
Adv:
  1. Cheap
  2. No pain
  3. Convenient way of applying (keep it on for a few minutes and wash it off)
Disadv:
  1. Not right for sensitive skin
  2. Doesnt pull out hair from roots
  3. Got to keep buying tubes of cream
UPDATE:
AUG 22, 2009
I decided to go buy the braun precision and came back fuming with anger. The sales lady was so rude and just as she was taking it out I said 'I want to be sure that I can do my eyebrows with this' and she was so condescending, so rude, I wanted to slap her....turns out the precision thing is only to trim not to shape and I said ok and left with my husband. Idiots! why the sales lady before her say otherwise? Liars.......I shouldve said something but whats the point, Im back with my eyebrows not groomed. The war isnt over!
